July 1: A Year Half Over

Sometimes my mind goes to weird places.

I try to do a stash report but honestly, that is near impossible for me as I have no clue how much I started with, and I started into the year instead of at the first of it and .. and.. you know what I mean?

I've also been trying to keep track of my UFOs.  I actually have them all listed now (I think?) and have been keeping track and adding new projects as I start them to the list.  I am going to go over and organize my list into the order that I feel like I want to do the projects and then anything new that I add or buy fabric for is going at the end of the list (I don't know how this will work since I have a tendency to just do what I want when I feel like it as far as UFOs are concerned, so we shall see).

I am going to start all over today, July 1, 2012 as it is exactly halfway through the year and my 23rd wedding anniversary on top of that.  New Year in way, sort of.

Instead of a stash report I'm just going to keep a list on a new tab of what I bring in and how much I use up for each week with a running total.  I think that will be easier for me.

June was good.  I have 4 finishes for June.  All quilts, one of them the oldest UFO that I had if I don't count the quilt top that I got more than 15 years ago when my Grandma passed away that she had in the top of her fabric closet for who knows how many years?  At least as long as I've been alive since my Mom remembers it being in their stuff when they moved from California to Oregon when she was 18 and she married my Dad when she was 21.  That means my 44 years plus 3 plus..??  Maybe I'll post pictures and see if anyone can tell me what era the fabrics in it are from.  Anyway, I've wandered off topic.

The other new start I'm making today is with my diet and exercise.  I went to the doctor a couple of days ago and she and I had a serious discussion about the fact that I need to take off about 70 pounds.  I've been on blood pressure meds for quite a while, but now other things are starting to happen because of my overweightness and I want them to stop, I want off meds and I would love to wear a bathing suit and look good in March on a trip to somewhere warm and sunny.  She told me to lose between 7 and 10 pounds a month, she reinforced that the plan that I have made to do it is sound and will work if I stick to it.

I also decided that for my Anniversary present I wanted something that my Grandmother used to have that I really enjoyed listening to her play and sing silly songs on, so we went and got it midway through Saturday.  It is this:

A Ukelele!

I have already started trying to learn Somewhere Over The Rainbow.

Isn't she purty?  I named her Lula. (My son says you have to name all of your stringed instruments.)

Happy Anniversary and "happy new year" to you! It does us all good to stop and relect on where we are and where we want to be. Kudos to you on the health part... my husband and I have started training for a 5K run/walk. So far it is killing me, but I am determined to do this! I want to see your grandmother's quilt top and congrats! on your new guitar!!
