A Finish!

But before that.

This is typically what I see when I look at my love seat (sometimes they all have a quilt over, under, wadded up around them)

I wanted to put up a couple of photos to show what happens when I take both of my children who are still at home (21 yo and 19 yo) to town with me and they have my camera in the car with us, but I have been forbidden to put them anywhere by my daughter.  Apparently she doesn't want people to know just how goofy she is, but she is my daughter so I think people might have figured it out by now...?

So on to my finish since I don't think the person the secret project is for reads my blog.  I'll have to wait to put it on Facebook since I know she sees my stuff there though. :D

I bought the fabrics and sewed a few blocks.

I started laying the blocks out and didn't like them at all.  Though in this picture they actually look okay!  Note to self, take a picture and look at it to see if you actually like things together!

I put them and the fabric away in the bottom UFO bin.  I bought the fabric intending to make quilt for a specific person but not for a specific reason, just cuz I like her!

Son reminded me that her Birthday is on the 20th a few days ago so I dug it all out and studied it for a day while working on something else and came up with the sashing solution.

It finished out at 64.5 inches square.  Most people call that a throw, I call it a snuggle quilt.  I sure hope she likes it!

I backed it with something a little funky looking just so it would be 2 totally different looks.  With the quilting the back even looks pretty cool I think.

So there is my finish.  Now I gotta get back on the Star Wars quilt.  I'm DETERMINED to stick to only it until it is done.

The sashing was such a good solution and really made that quilt stunning. I like how the back is truly a different look. I bet she'll love it, and you've got it done before her birthday!!!! Way to go!!!!!!!!

Penny, I didn't put in the post that I was at the sewing machine for 8-12 hours for the last 5 days and my son pressed while I was piecing the blocks and putting it all together with the sashing which is a HUGE time saver. :D Thanks for the compliments!

Quilting makes such a difference to a top/flimsy, doesn't it? Thanks for the tip about taking a photo when deciding whether one likes the layout or not! (Visiting from TGIFF)
