Just another day in paradise.....

... if you like gray, wet, cold, pouring rain, then yep, I'm in paradise!  At least I have a home to keep warm and dry and lots of quilts if I decide to sit and snuggle up.

Today is day 1 of Bonnie Hunter's Mystery for this year and I have decided to play along.  I haven't done it before but the last 2 years I've kept tabs on the fun and thought I really should try it.  The reason I haven't before this is I don't use patterns for quilts.  For some reason it is very hard for me to stick to a pattern so my method is I see something I like and I do my "take" on it.

I don't have any of the colors that she picked and I am on a no fabric purchase diet so that means I get to make do with what I have and hope it all works out in the end.

Here's a link to the page with links to the Intro and to Part 1.  Easy Street

I chose the brick red as my constant fabric and natural muslin as my background.  I'll also be using gold, green and blue since those are what I have the most of in my stash, hopefully I have enough of each to really have the rest of the quilt be scrappy since I have a solid background where she chose white with black print as the background.

I should easily have the 192 four-patches done by the time I need to quit to make dinner.  So far I have 50 of them done and I only started a little while ago after the spouse went to bed.

In other news, I only need to add an outside border to the Star Wars quilt, or as I'm calling it "Coolest Nerd Quilt Ever!" and then I will add borders to the back to get it up to size and get it basted.  I think I have just enough large batting scraps so I won't have to buy batting for it.  Hopefully I can be quilting it by Monday, depending on what all hubby wants to do tomorrow.

We are having our turkey on Sunday and his sis and her little family are coming down to eat (they live 2 houses away) so I'll have to do some house keeping tonight and tomorrow afternoon.  We have no carpeting.  I thought I hated vacuuming but it turns out I hate mopping even more... who knew? LOL!

I hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend, especially if you are out in the shopping madness.

I decided I wanted to do Easy Street but have been fretting about fabrics. Thanks for helping me break out of the mould. I'm going to go with what I have most of in my stash too.

I'm going to do Easy Street as well, and I'm also doing my own scheme. I had to break down and get two yards of something though, since I didn't have that much of one fabric. I'm eagerly awaiting a picture of the Star Wars quilt. I've really been following your progress on it. You are doing a great job.
