Weekend Away

For the first time in a long time hubby and I ran away for the weekend.  We very seldom have the money to do this, and with him working nights it is also hard to get away just because his sleep schedule gets out of whack and then he is Mr. Crankypants.

We are so glad we just decided to do it and then did.  I'll have to make a buck stretch a bit further on the groceries for a couple of weeks, but it was so worth it.

I have tomorrow all planned out sewing wise, plus I have to go get some groceries as well and tomorrow is the day I really start hitting my exercise program hard and consistent.

Do you ever see the block that someone in a swap or bee you are in is asking for and think dirty words to yourself?  I do sometimes but I usually think them in Klingon since it is the only language I'm allowed to cuss in.  This happens for various reasons.  Either because it means I will have to spend money on fabric to make the colors they want or I just really hate the particular block because I've either made it and didn't enjoy it or it is something WAY beyond my comfort zone.

I guess the thing is just to get it done and over with.  Usually if it is something that needs colors of fabric I don't have it gets done late since I can't just run out and buy fabric anytime I want to like I could when I had gainful employment so I have to figure out how to budget my fabric allowance ($10 a week doesn't go very far when you are trying to buy thread, fabric and batting with it!) so I can get 'er done by the end of the month.

Anyway, it was a glorious weekend and I'm going to focus on that until I actually have to go into the sewing area tomorrow and try to pound out this block...... :-D

I hope everyone enjoyed their weekend as much as I enjoyed mine.

Well, I haven't been so good getting my bee blocks out on time the past two months (both times I mailed them on the last day of the month) for the reason that I dread looking to see what I have to make, generally because it is beyond my comfort level (starting with a starburst that I just could not get right). Is there a certain fabric color you need? I just organized my sewing room and would be glad to send you whatever you need!

Oh, and I meant to say it's awesome that you and your husband got to go away for a weekend. Sounds like a nice time! I try to save money on groceries any way I can, including shopping at Walmart, which I hate. But then I ran to Target yesterday, and many of the items I bought at Walmart were cheaper at Target. How is that possible???? Where do you normally get good deals?

Yay, for you and hubby getting away. Glad you had a good time. Yes, I know what you mean about the block exchange. I only participated for a few months and a couple of them were way out of my comfort zone. One time I had to google the type of fabric, because I had no idea what the person was talking about...and then had to buy it online. Nothing local like that here. LOL Anyway, email what you need, and I'll see if I have any. :))

Congrats on the get away, I'm jealous! We are saving for our wedding and Christmas so get aways don't happen.

If you need colored scraps or black for stash bee just let me know, I have a basket of every color strings I have been saving for an ongoing string quilt I'm making so I can definately share.

Wow, I admire you sticking to a budget. I tend to go a little crazy in fabric stores :)
