Time Out...

For some reason I've not felt like doing anything at all but laying around on the couch reading.  I haven't sewn a stitch since the day before my last post.  I've managed to read at least a dozen novels.  Today my big plan to super clean and organize my craft area just isn't happening either.

I found out I'm going to be a grandma and I must tell you that I haven't stopped smiling and grinning and occasionally doing a little jig of joy, still nearly  two weeks out from getting the news!

Yesterday our youngest son, who is going to be 20 in just a few days, told us he is moving out.  Basically he has already moved out.  He's going to be staying with our oldest son and his wife for a while.  We live way out from town so it's been hard for him to find work so this is a solution that will work for everyone for the time being.  He knows he'll still have a bed and room here if he needs it, though we are going to rearrange his room and put it to use if he's not living in it anymore, once he comes and takes the rest of the things he will need.

That leaves our daughter.  It might sound weird or seem wrong since I consider myself to be a smart, strong woman but I am really glad she doesn't feel any pressure to make her own way yet.  She's 22 but seems perfectly content to stay here for the foreseeable future.  I really don't believe in shoving girls out the door as soon as possible.  I know for me I wasn't 'grown up' and didn't really know who I was or who I wanted to be until I was into my 30s and married with 3 kids.

She has said she wants to continue her schooling but she doesn't seem to be in a big rush to do it, and that's fine with me.  Whenever she's ready.  Not that I wanted to boys "out!" either.  I do think it is more important to a guys self esteem to be able to support themselves sooner rather than later.  At least that's the way it seems to me.

I seem to be rambling and not really getting anywhere huh?  Anyway, I guess the point is I need to get off my rear end and get things organized so that once Jay comes and packs up his room we're ready to turn it into hubby's office/den/music room, which means I really need to clean and organize the multipurpose/hobby/craft/junk room.  Possibly I'll feel like tackling it tomorrow.  For today I think I'm just going to sit around and finish the book I'm reading and contemplate what it might mean that my youngest child has flown the nest without much planning or preamble.....

LOL, kids are so funny. Glad "we" can see well enough to let them be who they need to be :-)

I'm glad that you are enjoying the books and I'm glad that I don't have to worry about my kids leaveing the next for a very long time.

Hi Sam, I was thinking about you tonight and wondering what you've been up to, and then I saw I never commented on this post. I know my kids are still so little, but I think I can empathize a little. I never want them to move out! How did the move go?
