Did You Ever........

just get in a slump you can't seem to make yourself get out of?

I am not goal setting anymore.  It doesn't seem to help me.  I haven't felt like sewing for weeks but I have been forcing myself once in a while.  I haven't sewn a stitch for a week.  I have 4 quilts that HAVE to get done by mid/end of August and just knowing that I HAVE to do it, makes me not want to do it.

Does that make any sense at all?

I decided tomorrow that I'm just going to knuckle down and get to it.  I'm going to get all 4 quilts ready for binding and I'm not going to take another day off until it's done.

It's not a goal, it's just a ... promise?

I think it might be the heat.  It might be that the summer is slipping away and I haven't gotten to go anywhere or do anything that I've wanted to do.  On that subject, hubby and I have decided that I need to start looking for a job.  Living frugally is all well and good so that only one person needs to work, but I'm at the point (and I think he is too) that I really wish we had some extra money so we could GO and DO.

So that is my rant/complaint/moan for the day.  I swear, if that's as bad as it gets then life is still pretty darn good, don'tcha think?

I can relate. There was a time a few years ago when I couldn't get excited about quilting. It was hard to find a project that I wanted to do and if I did start something, I would lose interest. I think part of the problem was that I wasn't in a guild or a bee, and hadn't discovered blogs yet. I think a BIG part of quilting is the sharing and socialness of it. I finally just powered through and forced myself to make something--a little like you. I ran strip sets through the machine and slowly, the passion came back. We had moved so I joined the guild and got in a bee. It helps to have feedback, etc. Another tip I can offer is to try to listen to audiobooks while you "play" in the sewing room. Our library has them, so they don't cost anything, and I can "escape" anywhere and do anything while immersed in a book. Good luck--I feel for you!

I understand. I started writing things down day to day, trying to make a schedule for the next day, rather than trying to make month long goals. I do need goals to keep my moving.

I'm sure we all can relate some to what you're going through. You get in a rut for sure and the only way to get out is to change things up a bit. The job idea is probably a good one. It will get you out more and you'll spend time with other people. Having a little extra money isn't a bad thing either.
